DATELINE -- October 8, 2005Days of our Lives turns 40 years old on November 8. Kristian was on hand to help celebrate with her fellow cast mates on SOAPnet’s Soap Talk. The show reunited Kristian with some of her former cast mates and her present ones. They reminisced about the past and present. Kristian will be sharing the stage with Peter, Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Suzanne Rogers, Missy Reeves, Stephen Nichols, Charles Shaughnessy, and the matriarch of the show, Frances Reid. It was great seeing all of them on one stage.
Before taping the show, Kristian was in “dressing room chaos.” It is quite funny watching Kristian and Deidre sharing the same makeup mirror. Kristian was assisting Deidre with the finishing touches on her outfit and her makeup, all while she was getting all gussied up herself. Kristian is so observant. They were retouching her face with the powder puff and primping her curls for the last time. She noticed that “one” powder puff dab was needed on Deidre. She then fixed Deidre’s belt and then she said, “Now you are ready.” It was really cute. (Note: Kristian’s outfit, as you can see, is absolutely adorable.) I don’t think she has a bad color.
Kristian and Peter were then given directions of what they had to do before being introduced -- and Kristian was very excited because she was going to get to hold a glass of candy corns which she was allowed to eat. But she was more interested in what I was wrapping in a napkin. She thought it was a cookie and -- LOL -- she attacked me because she wanted one. There was a gentleman standing around us that thought it was hilarious because I was only wrapping up a picture.
I stood in the background.
Kristian chatted with Drake and then Stephen Nichols. She and Stephen and
Peter caught up on each other’s lives and what’s been going on. Then Kristian
and Peter talked and waited to be introduced. I hurried to get my seat so
I could
actually watch the show. She and Peter came out to a thunderous applause
and took their seat on the couch. The reminisced about learning just how
famous they were when they went to New Orleans for the World’s Fair in 1984
for the location shooting. They talked about what it is like being a part
of such an important part of Days and the phenomenon that Bo and
Hope became. There was a moment when they showed an old clip of Bo and Hope
from Hope’s
almost wedding to Larry Welch. Kristian covered her eyes through the whole
thing. Deidre Hall responded, “Have you ever seen a more beautiful bride?”
Throughout the commercial breaks, Kristian chatted with her co-stars. She, Suzanne, and Missy were admiring each other’s clothes. There was a particular piece of jewelry that Missy was wearing that Kristian really liked. She kept referring to it or finding something else beautiful about it. Something tells me Missy won’t have that piece very long. Kristian was also making sure that Peter was looking his best for the camera each time. She would make sure his collar was just right and his hair was in place.
Then Ken Corday and Frances Reid came out. This was just the sweetest moment during the commercial break because watching Kristian, Missy, Suzanne, and Deidre take care of her was like four daughters doting over their mother. They all had a different job they were doing to take care of Frances. Kristian’s was the cutest. She checked out Frances’ makeup. She then screamed for some lip gloss. She kneeled in front of Frances and she said, “Rub your lips together like this.” And Frances would make the motions Kristian told her to make. Then she would tell her, “Do it again.” Frances would repeat. Then Kristian told her, “Pucker up like a kiss.” Frances, who was following Kristian ever so closely, puckered up. It was the sweetest moment. Later on, which you will see in the segment, Kristian talked about working with Frances, which was a very sentimental moment. And Kristian said, “Frances, I know, I love you,” to which Frances responded, “I love you, too.” It is evident the love that Kristian has for her on-screen "Gran."
After
the show was over, the actors kind of hung around and chatted with each other.
Kristian took
some more time to chat with Stephen Nichols. She was eating some delicious
chocolate that was provided for us. She looked into the audience and said
to me, “I
ate two already, it is VERY GOOD.” We
laughed because she was like a kid that had just snuck something out of the
candy
store.
She
talked a
little more and went to leave. She ran back and told the fans, “Goodbye everybody,
thanks for coming.” As always, our girl was bubbly and so welcoming to the
fans. I think everyone had an awesome time.
And the best way to end this write up is with this picture of Kristian’s beautiful curly locks and side profile smile. As Peter said, when asked how the name Fancy Face came about, he said, “Kristian was smiling in the scene, just as she is now, and the only thing I could think of, looking at that face and that smile, was Fancy Face.” And the rest for our favorite girl and our favorite character is history.
